Delivering Services to the BME Community

This project, funded by the Ealing Council was Established to support the Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) community in Ealing. The initiative aims to provide a variety of services and activities tailored to address the diverse needs of this community, with particular attention given to individuals and families from refugee backgrounds. The project’s primary focus was on assisting these groups in overcoming challenges related to health, training and public health awareness

Objectives

Health Awareness and Training

To enhance knowledge and awareness of critical health issues within the SME community, with a special emphasis on conditions that disproportionately affect these groups

Support for refugees

To provide targeted assistance to refugees, facilitating their integration into the community and ensuring access to essential services

Community Engagement

To build a stronger more informed community by offering educational programs and awareness campaigns

Regional Focas

Our organisation operates in North-West and West London working closely with the NHS and integrated care services to serve the Ealing BME community

Services and Availlability

The project offered a wide range of activities and services, including:

  • Health Awareness Campaigns: Addressing critical health issues such as cancer, Covid-19, TB, AIDS, sexual education and substance abuse.
  • Training sessions: Aims at improving understanding of various health-related topics, including disease prevention and healthy living practices.
  • Community Workshops: Focus on educating participants about the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse, and promoting safer lifestyles.
  • Support Services: Assisted community members in accessing healthcare, understanding public health information, and navigating the UK healthcare system.
  • Increased Health Awareness: Successfully raised awareness of major health issues within the BME community.
  • Improved Access to Healthcare: Enhanced access to health services for refugee families.
  • Strengthened Community Bonds: Foster stronger connections within the community through engagement and education initiatives.
